John Tavares #91 (29-years-old)

Newly named team captain in the first game of this season, Tavares is on his way to another outstanding year in the blue and white. In his first season with the Maple Leafs last season, Tavares set career highs with 47 goals and 88 points. Signed on Canada Day of 2018, Tavares left the New York Islanders after playing there for his first nine seasons. Tavaras grew up in the GTA and was a Leafs fan as a kid.

Fun Fact:

Tavares was the first ever player to be granted “exceptional player status” as a 14-year-old kid. The Oshawa Generals were able to select him first overall because of this.
