Marc Gasol was part of the Spanish National Team after highschool, and participated in the 2006 FIBA World Championship in Japan and went on to win the gold medal.

Bio:

Marc Gasol, born on January 29th, 1985, in Barcelona Spain, moved to Memphis, specifically Germantown, Tennessee, in 2001. The Spanish basketball player played in highschool at Lausanne Collegiate School, in which he averaged 26 pints, 13 rebounds, and six blocks per game in his senior season. This earned him the title of Mr. Basketball in 2003. Following his graduation, Gasol returned to Spain to play in the Spanish League, Liga ACB for FC Barcelona, for which he played 3 whole seasons. In 2006, Gasol signed with Girona, and two years later was given the title of ACB’s Most Valuable Player. During that same year, on July 9th, 2008, Marc Gasol signed with the Memphis Grizzlies, the same team his brother, Pau, has previously played on. He set a franchise rookie record for field goal percentage in a season with 53 percent. He subsequently earned the NBA All-Rookie Second Team honors. After his first year with the team, he averaged 14.6 points and 9.3 rebounds with a career-best .581 field goal percentage. In 2011, Gasol led the Grizzlies to the NBA Playoffs through a 13-game run, in which he showcased 15 points and 11.2 rebounds. In April 2013, he was named the NBA Defensive Player of the Year, becoming the first player in Grizzlies history to earn the honor. Over the span of his career with the Grizzlies, Gasol acquired a great amount of accomplishments, and was a beast on the courts. In 2014-15 Gasol was chosen for the NBA-All Star game, and played a career best with an average of 17.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 3.8 assists for the Grizzlies win. That’s when Gasol was named to the All-NBA First Team, and during that season was the only player in the league with at least 1,300 pints, 600 rebounds, and 300 assists. The 2015-16 season was no less of a show for Gasol as he achieved his first career triple-double with 16 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists in a win against the Houston Rockets. He followed this in the 2016-17 season when he posted a second career triple-double with 28 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists in a win over the New Orleans Pelicans, and another against the Atlanta Hawks with 18 points, 10 rebound, and 10 assists. In the same season, in 2017, Gasol scored 42 points, the highest of his career, against the Toronto Raptors. After this, Gasol recorded two more triple-doubles in his career, in the 2017-19 season and 2018-19 season, the former of which was against the Los Angeles Clippers as he held 13 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists. The latter was against the Charlotte Hornets with 22-points, 17 rebounds, and 10 assists. After almost 10 years with the Memphis Grizzlies, Gasol was traded on February 7th in 2019 to the Toronto Raptors, in which he helped them reach the 2019 NBA Finals, in which they won the championship.
